"Karli at Tsankawi" 1996 #2

These are more of the figure images I recorded on July 2, 1996, while I worked in some of the caves at “Tsankawi,” an ancient Anasazi Pueblo culture site located in the Bandelier National Monument. The model is Karli is from Santa Fe. She has a very poly cultural heritage—China and Ireland. She has the perfect look for these “somewhere in time” images. Karli was also a nimble footed climber and was at ease barefoot in the ancient caves. In several of the shots a multicolored sash was used to give a splash of radiant color to the image.

The Anasazi people were the ancestors of the more modem Pueblo people of New Mexico. Their culture flourished from 700 to 1300 A.D. The primitive ruins at Tsankawi are from the early (c. 800 A.D.) period of Anasazi culture.

The theme of the two pages in this series is that of the model in relationship with architectural form.
