During 1996 I continued to do black and white figure work in the studio. While I was doing the figure shoots I saw many opportunities to do extemporaneous portraits of the models as we worked. Here are some of the portrait images recorded that years during several figure shoots with four different models. In some it will appear obvious that these so-called “figurative portraits” were done during the course of a figure shoot; in others that is less obvious. In all, the portraits were not what the model and I were first looking for, but they were the images that they presented and I discovered along the way.
