Beginning in mid-1997, I began a series of pictures that I call “Icy BLue.” My objective was to do portraiture from a figurative perspective, and to incorporate movement and fluidity within the images, and do it with a cold blue overtone. I was striving to maintain the essence of the subject’s personality while highlighting the elegance of the figure. To achieve the deep blue tone that is one of the hallmarks of this series, I used studio strobe light with a tunsten rated film (Kodak T-160) and underexposed the film by one f-stop.
