"New Directions 2000 " Images
This pages contains several sets of images from nine bodies of new work that were in progress in 2000. The images on this page are representative of where my vision, and a little experimentation, was taking me at that time in the creation of what I saw as interesting new series.
In those days, and for the most part, my digital manipulation of images was done with both Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition. I also used Professor Franklin’s Instant Photo Effects.
"Color on Black & White" Series
"Subtracted Color" Series
In this series color images used and, after the isolation of a specific area (usually the background), that area is converted to grayscale. This technique allows a heightened emphasis of a portion of a color image.

"Variations" Series
In this series a single images is rendered in various ways using the “effects” functions of Adobe PhotoDeluxe. In the world of music there are a number of pieces that are variations on a theme. There is no reason why all the presentation possibilities of an image should not be explored using the special effects of Adobe PhotoDeluxe.
“Windows Variation #2”
"Charcoal Sketch" Series
In this black and white series the images are manipulated using the tools of Professor Franklin’s Instant Photo Effects to add, as here, a brush edge and charcoal sketch look. When printed on watercolor paper in large 12-18″ format, these prints are quite striking.

"Masks" Series
In this series, a single type of prop, here masks of various types, are used. Over the years I have taken masks to workshops and had them in the studio. Whenever a model takes to a mask I shoot a few images, and over the years I have collected enough “masked women” images to consider a special series.

"The Red Shawl" Series
In this series a single type of prop, here a hand woven red shawl was used. I like to work with fabrics that that are both rich in color and texture. In 1995 I found two very special hand woven pieces—a red shawl and a blue sash—and have used them in one way or another in almost every shoot a do. It is now time to showcase these items in a special series.

"The Blue Sash" Series
